PLS training makes sure officers know the latest court decisions from their jurisdiction on search and seizure law, use of force, interrogations, drunk driving, and more.

LESSON TYPES

LEGAL UPDATE

Our state-specific police legal update training is written by attorneys and is based on actual court decisions. Lessons generally include an in-depth analysis of five target cases as well as questions and answers based on illustrative example cases. The lessons place the learner in the position of the officer at the scene and examine how the court reviewed the officer's actions. Topics covered include: search and seizure law, consent, interrogations, excessive force, drunk driving, the Americans with Disabilities Act, First Amendment law, landlord-tenant law for police, traffic law enforcement, and more. PLS also provides state-specific legislative updates.

INTERPERSONAL PERSPECTIVE

Our online interpersonal perspectives training addresses issues such as bias prevention, racial profiling, diverse communities, de-escalation, mental illness, officer mental health, crisis management, suicide intervention, autism spectrum disorder, sexual harassment, ethics, and other current issues in law enforcement.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Our online technical skills lessons provide police with in-depth guidance on issues such as human trafficking investigations, sexual assault investigations, domestic violence investigations, elder abuse investigations, eyewitness identification, bloodborne pathogens, use of force investigations, hazardous materials, hazard communication, the sovereign citizen movement, drone investigations, officer safety, the arrest and detention of foreign nationals, documentation of high-risk incidents, and other issues.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

"It is a move we made several years ago to have access to required training, without having to go somewhere and set in a classroom. This saves time and finances. They are very good at answering questions and are helpful when needed."

RICHARD W. SANDERS
Chief of Police
Piedmont Police Department

"Updated learning as it relates to relevant case law that we deal with as well as other relevant topics. The information is relevant to all agency sizes and not just "metro" agencies. I like that it is truly beneficial to rural agencies like ours as well."
